Despite only having four days it was a busy week last week, taking full advantage of the sunshine. Class 8 had their first DofE Bronze expedition spending two days at Wenlock Edge carrying all their equipment and camping. They all did really well. They also managed to fit in a trip on Tuesday to a ceramic exhibition and clay work shop at Wolverhampton Art gallery.
On Wednesday we had our annual May Day celebrations with Classes 1 to 7 all taking turns around the two maypoles building up to some truly complicated dances.
On Monday Class 7 were outside as part of their Chemistry Main Lesson looking at combustion. They’d been in the lab the week before but this time they went primitive and were taught traditional fire-lighting techniques using bow drills and fire-steels. It was great to see how focused and enthusiastic they were.
And on Thursday Classes 1 to 6 took part in the annual Ascension Day walk up to the top of Wychbury Hill where they had their lunch. It was a big walk for those with smaller legs but they all did amazingly well and everyone enjoyed a lovely day in the sunshine.
All in all a very enjoyable week.
