All the planning and hard work finally paid off on Saturday 9th May when Elmfield did indeed erupt! Well, not the school itself, rather the huge volcano that had been built on the bottom lawn. Brilliantly decorated it roared into life at 2pm to the delight of hundreds of onlookers who oohed and aahed as the baking soda and vinegar combination soared into the sky. It was a sight to behold and one we won’t forget in a hurry.
Just as pleasing was the sunshine which was very welcome after a week of almost non-stop rain. The brave volunteers setting up on the Friday could have mistaken it for setting up for an Advent Fayre, it was so cold. But when Saturday dawned the rain had gone and out came the blue skies.
The aim of the event was to raise money for several good causes, have a great family day out and of course, break the world record for the World’s largest Baking Soda & Vinegar volcano. Confirmation of this achievement will take several weeks but fingers crossed they did it.
Everyone involved in the event did an incredible job and really did pull off a great family day out with wonderful entertainment, food and a brilliant atmosphere.
Congratulations and huge thanks to everyone who gave their time to make the day such a success and also a big thank you to everyone who came.
See you at the Summer Festival
