It seems like parents around the country have finally had enough of SATs.
The recent protests organised by the Let Our Kids Be Kids campaign, complained of a damaging culture of over-testing, saying children are “over-tested, over-worked and in a school system that places more importance on test results and league tables than children’s happiness and joy of learning”.
It’s very sad that this is the experience some children are having at school. But it sounds like the complete opposite of the experience children are having at Elmfield.
The photos are from our Class One, done in the Winter term. For our 7-year olds it’s their first experience of formal learning and it seems safe to say that their happiness and joy of learning are clearly priorities. It’s certainly a long way from the world of SATs!
Our school may not be perfect but we’re clearly getting the important things right and long may that continue.
