Olympic Torch inspires the pupils

Elmfield School Class 5 with Olympic Torch

Last Thursday we were very lucky to have athlete Matthew Hill come to Elmfield to talk about Success, Motivation Elmfield School Class 5 with Olympic Torchand Goal-Setting. His powerful talk provided real inspiration and insight into what it takes to achieve your own personal goals. Matthew brought with him his Olympic Torch which he proudly carried in Cornwall on the torch’s first day in the UK. He was given this honour after missing out on a place on the Paralympic Fencing team due to illness. Carrying the torch has gone someway to making up for his disappointment and he is already training hard to make the team for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. He runs a charity (www.mentorsden.co.uk) that mentors young disabled entrepreneurs. Matthew was kind enough to stay behind afterwards so that the children could have their photos taken with the torch.
