One of the joys of Elmfield is that teachers are always looking for interesting ways to bring subjects to life. Judyth Sassoon recently surprised her pupils by bringing in a life-size skull of Pliosaurus carpenteri, an extinct sea-monster which she has been studying for the past few years. At just under 2m long it is truly impressive. Students taking her Scientific Drawing Module and Class 11 Comparative Anatomy Main Lesson had the chance to study it at close range and learn from an expert in this field.
The model was made for a Mesozoic Marine Reptiles exhibition to take place in Bristol in 2 years’ time and the loan was kindly agreed by Bristol Museum.
