Congratulations to all our pupils who undertook their Silver DofE Assessed Expedition over the weekend. They spent three days in the beautiful Elan Valley in Wales and all did incredibly well. It’s an amazing achievement and they should all be really proud of themselves.
They covered 50km, camped out for two nights and experienced lots of different weather! This expedition came after their successful Practice Expedition in the Long Mynd last term.
They’ve all learnt so much and it was great to see just how far their skills have come on. Ten minutes into camp on the first day and their tents were already up despite the rain, with everyone looking really organised. The Assessor was very impressed as were we. Most impressive though was their team spirit, mutual support, and general cheeriness across the three days despite the sore feet and heavy packs.
We do Bronze and Silver DofE at Elmfield and it’s a great opportunity for the pupils to learn new skills and gain real confidence in their abilities. The Bronzes did both their expeditions last term and did really well too. Hopefully some of them will now step up and take on the even bigger challenge of Silver.
