Welcome to a new term at Elmfield. We hope you had a wonderful summer and enjoyed the sunshine and the amazing Olympics.
We’ve not been long back and already we’ve seen lots of smiling faces as everyone settles into their new classrooms and routines.
We’d like to congratulate all our GCSE students on their results this year. Class 10 have taken their first set of exams which they will complete this year. Class 11 have now taken all their GCSEs and 73% of them are leaving having achieved 5 or more A* to C grades. On top of this we also had one pupil who joined us very late and who, due to illness, only took two GCSEs at Elmfield but achieved a C in both to add to the five GCSEs which they already had. 92% of our C11 leavers left with A* to C in English language and Maths and 100% of the pupils who took German, English Literature and Music achieved A* to C in those subjects. Of those pupils who took the sciences, A* to C grades were achieved by 80% in Physics, 75% in Chemistry and 89% in Biology. In total 86% of exams were A* to C which is a great reflection on the hard work of all the students and staff.
We’ve been joined by several new staff this term and we wish them a very warm welcome.
Another new addition are lots of fruit trees by the polytunnel which will be lovely for pupils to harvest in the future. And the vegetable patch by Class 4 has produced a fine crop of runner beans over the summer.
Here’s looking ahead to another great term.
